Tips for Cleaning your Carpet from Orange Facility Cleaners

Springtime means rain time in middle Tennessee.  And if you work in an office, bustling employees hurry in and out of your doors tracking water on their coats, umbrellas and boots.  And the water isn’t half as bad as the mud, especially on your office carpets.

In order to prep you for this messy carpet season, Orange Facility Cleaners of Nashville, Tennessee thought we’d give you a few tips for keeping your office carpet clean this spring.

1.     Regular vacuuming.  Regularly vacuuming keeps the fibers of your carpet intact.  The longer you go without vacuuming, the higher the risk your carpet's fibers become permanently damaged and a trap for dust and dirt.
2.     Test for colorfastness.  Before you spot clean any stains on your carpet, make sure the color in your carpet will hold by using the cleaner or toner on a confined, out of sight portion of carpet.
3.     Steam clean your carpet.  Most home carpet cleaners are steam cleaners.  When using a steam cleaner, be careful not to over wet the carpet because it can lead to shrinkage, discoloration, and odor.
4.     If a steam cleaner doesn’t work for you, consider hiring a pro.
